Web-Training and Chill: the best self-isolation has to offer

Admit it. You’ve been feeling like you’re missing something lately. You haven’t been making the best use of your time. You just can’t seem to find that something to indulge your time into while still feeling accomplished when you’re finished.

This is where web-training comes in!

Getting the most out of self-isolation

I recently stumbled onto this link that offered a plethora of options on web-training. The one that stood out the most to me was Codecademy. This free coding site slogans itself as the “easiest way to learn how to code.”

Codecademy offers training resources in web design through an entertaining pathway. If you’re not sure where to start then you can take their quiz on the home page to see their recommendations on what to learn. This is where they will give you a code name to help you decide.

I took the quiz and my resulting code name was “Problem Solver.”

From this, they recommended that I could start on JavaScript or Python and also provided additional explanations on what they consider to be my best learning strengths. All in all, I think they were right besides the Engineering part. I am definitely not a math person!

The best part

However, I find the best part of this site to be its inactive social networking aspect. Codecademy lets users learn with friends and encourages advancement through gaining achievements.

Final thoughts: Does this have the potential to transition into online student learning?

Absolutely, it is no secret that COVID-19 has turned traditional in-class learning on its head. Online learning and teaching has consumed schools lately. With this change, it is so imperative that we are able to scholastically adapt and integrate.

Since even my own classes are online now, I find that I do prefer the brick and mortar classroom. I do feel like I get less out of the student experience when it comes to interacting with fellow classmates and teachers.

Today I am grateful for all the time I get to appreciate “the little things in life” that I miss in my usual day in, day out.
