The Top 3 Things Every Great Blog Has

There is not a one size fits all when it comes to blogs. However, there are common threads among the trendiest and most popular. Today, I will highlight what separates the best from the best!

1. Character

First up to bat is character. Character is defined as…

“the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing.”

In other words, be unique! No one wants to see the same style of blog over and over again. Make it fresh with your own personal touch and style! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

Take a look at these three photos of some of 2019’s most popular blogs.

From first glances, you can totally tell each blog has personality. But not only that, these blogs also have a purpose behind their personality too. Bonus!

2. Color

Color plays a massive role when it comes to your blog. The colors you use can provoke certain emotions in your readers and even prompt them to action. To get an idea of what color schemes you like and which ones you think best for your blog, check out this link!

3. Content Curation

In my opinion, this might be the most important part of keeping up with a popular blog. But wait. What is curation exactly?

  • Curation is a process that focuses on organizing and grouping items, ideas, and even people in a way that showcases or exhibits their appeal.

When it comes to designing my own blog, it is in my (and your) best interest to curate posts in a way that is easy for others to enjoy and access. Good curation is like having a good movie director. Although you have a good film crew and good actors, those things are not enough to create a great, 100% Rotten Tomatoes movie. You need a good movie director. That is you: you are a curator.

My Vow to Keep the Three Cs

Since my own blog is a reflection of my work, personality, and passions, I will make my blog more appealing by using images and pictures when necessary to enhance the reader’s experience. I will also use links when applicable. The best way for me to ensure that my blog posts are readable, memorable, and worthwhile is for me to stay true to myself and true to the topic at hand.

Blogs are about time. I spend my time writing a blog post for you, the reader, and in turn you read it for me. This is why I vow to make good use of your time. After all, time is money!

This ideology applies to my chosen field as well. Since I plan on developing and selling a product, my services as a veterinarian to you, valuing someone else’s time is crucial. My future endeavors are oriented around customer service and I can incorporate that mindset to my blog and vice versa!

Today I am grateful for change. For without change, I cannot learn nor grow.
